A pocket full of happiness…
Happiness can mean different things to different people depending on what makes you happy as a person.
Some may see happiness in purchasing a new car, booking a holiday, a winning scratch card or even getting a promotion at work.
But most of these things for one reason or another include one important factor ‘money’. Yes it is that dirty word, a taboo subject, that no one particularly likes to discuss but none of us can live without.
All the things mentioned apart from the promotion use money for purchasing material goods or services although for the promotion it may mean that you acquire more money because of taking on more responsibility.
Responsibility isn’t that a fantastic word it is a shame that a lot of us do not take responsibility for our own happiness instead of trying to obtain it from an outside source by purchasing things or even being around other people.
Yes I was once one of those 20 something’s with money and status I loved to purchase expensive, clothes, cars, holidays etc etc but undoubtedly after the initial wonderment of my purchases wore off everything kind of lost their appeal and got a bit taken for granted.
It was not until I had for the umpteenth time, like many before me, felt there had to be more to life than what was on the outside, that I started to look inwards.
I began to explore improving myself, my health, my thought patterns, how my energy worked, how I connected with others and the planet.
It was then that I started to see a glimmer of hope. That maybe not all things I had purchased had been pointless or worthless to gain the fulfilment of happiness but that they had been learning curves to understand and become aware that not everything outside of oneself has the ability to instil pure happiness within.
Not even close relationships because you may seek connection and engagement with others in relationships, friendships or with colleagues but when they are not there then who will make you feel happiness?
Getting to know yourself and understanding your own strengths and weaknesses these are all fundamental steps towards acknowledging your true self.
Gaining the awareness of your positive and negative traits as a person allows you to begin the process of accepting yourself so you can move forward knowing the real you.
Once you see you in your true form, just the bare bones of you, your own thoughts, desires, imperfections and raw beauty then can you begin to build that sense of knowing that happiness begins and infuses from the inside out. And that it is you and you alone in your true form, not all the people around you or the new clothes, cars or fancy holidays that allow the happiness to be emanated…it is at that point you have not just found your happiness you are happiness!
