World Health Innovation Summit – #WHISLondon16

Women, Families and the future wellbeing of future generations.

Most people recognise the challenges and breaking-point pressures faced by individuals, communities and the world’s resources as a result of medical advancement, technology and industrialisation. Everyone is concerned about what this will mean for our children and their children – and we all want a healthier, safer and sustainable future for them.

The solutions exist, not in waiting for the state or governments, but in the actions and choices made by individuals and communities – and the power of social capital and freedom to innovate. Innovation is thought to be complex or high tech – but often it is the simplest actions that can have the most profound impact – such as volunteering to translate for Bengali women visiting their GP in the UK; local communities enabled to use organic waste for energy and fertiliser – or affecting share price by choosing to.

WHIS is about sharing values, ideas, knowledge and skills so that people and communities can be empowered to address issues important to them. Communities are not restricted by geography – they are also global. And when mobilised can tackle the increasing gap in health and prosperity that drives inequality, instability and the future viability of an earth that will sustain our children and our children’s children.

This conference is the third in the World Health Innovation Summit Series for 2016/17. We have designed it around women and children – as mothers, wives, leaders, workers and social activists women are key conduits to the future well-being of future generations

We are bringing together a diverse range of speakers, passionate about creating a healthy future. We hope that through sharing this global stage together – speakers and audience – we can bring an alternative approach that taps the power of each. Nelson Mandela described it as Ubuntuconnection, community, and mutual caring for all. I am what I am because of who we all are.

We want you to debate, contribute to and challenge what you hear – and ultimately make connections, take ideas and create communities of action for a healthier future. The power is in your hands – we are here to help you connect #togetherweinspire
