Looking Beyond 2020 in Connected Healthcare Innovation
The Innovation Showcase will demonstrate to the public, the progress in the creation of a digital fabric that is transforming the Irish healthcare system to build a better health service. eHealth Ireland will take over the Science Gallery in Trinity for a special two-day exhibition to reveal highlights of existing projects and showcase the leading digital and connected technologies, which will revolutionise Irish healthcare.
The exhibition will have 4 different areas:
1. Existing Projects – Over the two day exhibition different projects and technologies will be showcased that are currently building a better health service. These projects will provide healthcare professionals and the public an opportunity to interact, see and feel how the technologies work and how they are improving their healthcare journey.
2. Startup Area – There will be a startup area where Irish technology companies can showcase their home grown businesses. These businesses are working on innovative products and services that are designed to change the face of healthcare as we know it.
3. #2030 – We have been engaging with suppliers such as Microsoft, Samsung and more who want to show the future of health care by exhibiting the art of the possible and healthcare of the future displaying technologies like AR, VR and more.
4. Lecture Room – We are in the process of securing speakers from Ireland and abroad to present around the three different streams of: Clinical; Research & Digital these presentations will run over the two days.
Fringe Events:
We are collaborating with stakeholders to put on fringe events including:
1. eHealth Natives – Minecraft engagement with school children collaborating with Microsoft. There will be a competition ran for children in primary schools to enter into a “mindrising” type event around what the children see as the future of health.
This competition will begin in September and culminate in a winner at the Innovation Showcase. We will also be encouraging these schools to have field trips with their children to the Innovation Showcase over the two days.
2. Breakfast Event on the 22nd
3. Dinner on the 23rd
4. A Pint of Digital Health on the 22nd (a blind date event linking Clinicians and Startups)
5. Breakfast Event on the 23rd
6. Dinner on the 23rd
7. A Pint of Digital Health on the 23rd (an event where Startups can meet larger business to find out how they can collaborate together)
Ensuring a sustainable legacy is key to the success of the projects. With this in mind, eHealth Ireland is working with Temple Street Children’s Hospital to facilitate the continued hosting of the innovation showcase beyond the exhibition, ensuring that the projects are developed and further innovation encouraged into the future. To ensure nationwide participation and engagement, elements of the exhibition will be rotating around other venues in Ireland including other Irish Hospital groups. eHealth Ireland will be working to inform schools and universities about the event encouraging engagement and continued education around all the developments in health both in the Science Gallery and with future hosts of the Innovation Showcase.
