2016 in reflection

How to sum up 2016 in one word… INSPIRATIONAL – This I feel grasps the whole ethos of 2016.

From the start of this year and the aftermath of storm Desmond I was thrown into the world of multi-media and at pace. Because of my involvement with the flooded community I had interviews in the local papers, radio interviews, TV appearances. And that was just the start of the year. So from that moment on I knew I was going to have to hit the ground running with everything that was happening around me and live presently moment to moment the best I could to keep up with all that was going on around me.

I thoroughly enjoyed my regular Blab chats on a Friday evening with Gareth Presch and the #WHIS team it was a way to connect, engage and collaborate live on-line with fellow colleagues and share knowledge on the topic for that week.

March saw the very first World Health Innovation Summit take place at the Halston in Carlisle and it was awesome to be invited to assist at the 2 day event. I also had the pleasure of providing a 1-1 session work for of the WHIS Ambassadors Josh Quigley – The Tartan Explorer. It was great to finally meet some of the #WHIS team and Ambassadors. Some of which I will be collaborating with in the future.

Unfortunately this year I had to withdraw from being part of the ‘Healing Ibiza Festival 2016’ as I was busy with being a key member of the board for Carlisle’s first Community Health Mela in the city organised by Rotarians Kevin Walsh and Wendy Aldred which was real honour and a pleasure. I was to help assist with the organisation with different parts of the day and also to put a team together for the complementary therapies area.

These were 2 massive events that had taken place in the first quarter of the year that I thoroughly enjoyed and gained so much experience from by being part of both events.

Mind Body Spirit Events, Rheged’s Vegan Festival, Enterprise Eden, The Chamber of Commerce Growth Hub Business 2 Business Event, Small Business Saturday Event, CWE and Carlisle Ambassador’s I have taken part, exhibited and been a speaker at all this year, to name but a few.

I also started my commercial work towards the end of the year with a meditation class for the teachers of Robert Ferguson School in September and have provided CPT Motivational Training for Ops Shops Managers in October.

The momentum for the year just kept gathering pace as it went along until the amazing finale which was my charity event #hotsteppingforfloods on 10th December at Carlisle Rugby Club to raise funds for those still affected by the floods of 2015 and to mark the anniversary. The whole of the city got involved, they either provided a raffle prize, or like Benchmarx, Thomas Graham’s and the Cumberland Building Society they provided sponsorship for the day and local and national companies even brought teams in to do the fire walking event on the evening like More Handles, TK Maxx, Immortal Art, Sainsbury’s, New Look & H&M. Individuals like Claire Armstrong of Big Beans Graphics and design, Claire Bell Miss Cumbria, Abbie Wilson Junior Miss Cumbria and Rod Peart of Wills Designed all walked to raise much needed funds. Again big thanks to Gareth and Ken of #WHIS who supported the event and attended to raise moral!

So all in all a massive year for Bespoke Minds and what is in store for 2017…well after a little down time over the New Year.

Next year will start by being a working exhibitor providing sessions for stress/anxiety and speaker at the Floods Expo 2017 at Carlisle Racecourse on 2/3rd February.

I will again be part of the board for the Community Health Mela 2017 in the city Centre on the 13th May and I have a new board role within the Carlisle Unity Festival which will be in the city centre on 8th July 2017.
