“National scientific conference comes to Cumbria for the second time in 18 years”

BRITISH INDIAN ORTHOPAEDIC SOCIETY (BIOS) 19th ANNUAL CONFERENCE, CUMBRIA 2017

The British Indian Orthopaedic Society (BIOS) was held in Cockermouth in 1999 and is now coming to Carlisle next summer. The BIOS was established by the Indian diaspora in the UK to raise the educational standards of clinical Orthopaedic and Trauma surgery all over the world. Our Exchange Fellowships and initiatives for clinical application of cutting edge research in preventing musculo-skeletal disease and treatment of disease across national and cultural borders is well-established.

This Annual Scientific Conference brings together Key Note speakers from diverse fields onto a single platform through Master classes, original research paper Presentations and Panel discussions. During the 2-day event in Carlisle we expect 100 consultant orthopaedic surgeons from UK and abroad to attend the conference and the scientific sessions will be video-streamed live to world-wide to audiences, Interpreters will be at hand for the inter-action with the scientific community of professionals and researchers globally, perhaps a ‘first’ for any national orthopaedic conference in the UK.

The World Health Innovation Summit (WHIS) is supporting this event through providing Digital Management, Technical, Logistical management. Local businesses have warmly welcomed the event as a great opportunity for health related professionals and local entrepreneurs to network with diverse organisations for the benefit of our community. Our orthopaedic surgeons hope this meeting of international experts and specialists coming into Cumbria will attract not only the next generation of trainees by showcasing cutting edge technologies but the local lifestyle may also tempt the more established surgeons to put down their roots here.
