Dr Amir Hannan is a GP at Haughton Thornley Medical Centres in Hyde, UK and a board member for Tameside & Glossop CCG leading on Long Term Conditions, Information management & Technology and Patient Engagement / Empowerment. Developing a “Partnership of Trust” between patient and clinician, the practice has enabled over 4300 citizens (36% of total population) to access their GP electronic health record on-line, helping them to self care and gain a better understanding of their health. The practice-based web portal www.htmc.co.uk puts patients, managers and clinicians at the heart of healthcare and helps drive change.

He is the founder of the World Health Innovation Summit a platform for all to inspire, innovate and share knowledge to improve healthcare. Patient focused and quality driven, a former Chief Officer of the National Haemophilia Council a statutory body in Ireland. Gareth has also managed National Clinical Programmes on Blood Transfusion (establishment of the National Blood Transfusion Committee), Haemochromatosis and the Endoscopy improvement programme. He has extensive networks around the world.

Olive O’Connor is an expert in the field of personal self-management. Having qualified with Stanford University as a Self-Management Facilitator of Chronic Disease, Olive has become a specialist in this area by leading over two years of patient led research on this topic and from her own unique, personal experiences. As a patient and carer herself, Olive has an in depth understanding of the first-hand familiarities in the issues that can arise from manoeuvring within our health system, and so because of this, she has a passion to drive, promote & educate all stakeholders on the importance of engagement, self-management and partnership.

 

Winning the Judge’s Choice Special Merit Award 2014 (awarded to a business “deemed worthy of particular note”) from a total of 160 social businesses, Olive has always stood by her values and beliefs. A former youth worker, with specialities in intercultural studies, Olive chaired a thirty plus strong committee that went on to raise €100,000 in grant aid/ donations to build their local youth centre. Olive believes that the key to every successful project is through continual learning and engagement and because of this has a wide range of qualifications, including in the areas of Business & Legal Studies. Upon graduating, Olive decided to focus on the innovative MediStori project and was awarded a place on Enterprise Irelands prestigious New Frontiers programme, earning €15,000 in research funds.

 

Working with a fantastic team, social entrepreneur Olive, has undertaken extensive research with patients, carers & an immense range of health care professionals to develop the award winning personal health management toolkit - the MediStori. Endorsed by the Irish Patients Association, the Carers Association, the Irish Pharmacy Union plus numerous national charities and organisations, Olive was given the opportunity to showcase the MediStori on international territory when she was 1 of 10,000 women hand-picked from across the world to be showcased by the Clinton Global Initiative at their National AGM. An Taoiseach has since come in to support Olive’s work saying it can "save our health service millions".

Olive lives to learn and strives to connect with as many health innovators as possible. She is currently the event host for Health 2.0 Galway; lecturer for UCD [Forensic Medicine] and has been featured on – Today FM’s Sunday Business Show, RTÉ News, PrimeTime, IPU Magazine & MedTech’s Start-Up Academy of Excellence. Most recently Olive was asked to be a keynote speaker for the Vasco Da Gama Movement (VdGM) for Young GP’s by Dr Peter Sloane – of which she earned 9 CME credits and a certificate of recognition from the chairs.

Olive currently supports and works collaboratively with many charities, with a particular interest in young person’s organisations and mental health. Olive has been invited by many charities including iCAN [Irish Children Arthritis Network] to raise awareness of self-management and with Heart Children Ireland on awareness of Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder. In her spare time, Olive runs a suicide awareness Facebook page, EasySpeak (12,000+ members) which allows people to get advice from with their own central support service. This charity does not raise funds as it is completely peer led and is free to operate.

Martyn Blacklock, PgD, is a counsellor and workout/yoga teacher working as The Self Coach. Although his first degree was psychology based he went on to work as a manager in the wealth management arm of HSBC for 10 years before deciding to set his current business, working with individuals and communities on improving wellness using a mindful approach. He has lived in Cumbria for most of his life and is immensely proud of the region and looks forward to showcasing what we have here through his wellness and mindfulness work.

Martyn's training as a person centered counsellor introduced him to a way of being which is characterised by three conditions: being deeply understanding, accepting and genuine. These conditions are believed to provide an environment in which human beings can find fulfillment of their personal potential. He has certainly experienced his own potential being realised when applying these conditions to himself and then to clients and in the community. He is delighted to be leading the wellness and mindfulness arm of WHIS to work with and inspire others to reach their potential and become their best selves.

Deirdre is passionate about research, open sharing and promotes leadership by kindness. She is solution focused and aims to improve health globally. Deirdre encourages everyone to create myometrium moments (#Myomo), innovation moments (#InoMo) and is known to promote #oxyhugs at WHIS summits.

Ken has spent over 35 years of his working life in finance, compliance and business operations. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Bankers in Scotland, is a Carlisle Ambassador, School Governor and member of the Young Enterprise Area Board for North Cumbria.

 

Ken gained his B. A. Hons in Financial Services in 2003 via Napier University, building on examinations which he passed via the Banking Institute. Ken was an Institute of Bankers national prize winner in the subject of Investment in his early banking days. During his time in banking as well as branch based roles he has worked in Human Resources and Commercial Marketing as well helping to run a branch network of 35 branches in South Scotland and at one time managed a portfolio of 500 business customers.

A life-long learner, Ken is keen to see others benefit from his experience as a mentor, he is committed and has a very strong track record of helping staff on their individual learning journeys.

 

Ken has a mass of professional and organisational contacts in Carlisle, the wider Cumbria environs, North of England, North West of England, the South of Scotland and in London.

My aim is very simple, "Be so good that they can't ignore me."

My name is Harry McCann, and I am an seventeen-year-old entrepreneur from Kildare in Ireland. In 2013 I founded my first business at just fifteen years old called Kid Tech. Over the space of sixteen months we went on to teach over eight hundred kids to code all around Ireland, and also received the support and backing of Blackberry, Irish entrepreneur, Norah Casey, and British Actor Stephen Fry. Then in May of 2014 I went on to found and take on the role of Director of the first Digital Youth Council in the World, which has been working ever since with government and industry to make sure young people are influencing the future of the STEM sector in Ireland, and in Europe. The Digital Youth Council model has gone on to be replicated in other countries such as the UK. I have spent the last two years working on several startup ideas and taking on advisory/board roles in the Irish government, and some of the biggest multinational organisations and businesses in the World. My work has given me the opportunity to go and speak at over thirty conferences, events and summits around the in both Ireland and abroad. My most recent business venture is Trendsterpress.com which I founded in January 2016, and it is currently my main focus along with my role as Director of the Digital Youth Council.

Mr Mahadev graduated in 1993 from medical school and embarked upon his surgical training. In 1998 he became a fellow of the Royal College of Surgeons of Edinburgh and Glasgow and was conferred the fellowship of Royal College of Surgeons of England.

 

Having completed his general surgery, he undertook training in surgery both in the UK and abroad in Akademikliniken in Stockholm, Paris, Milan and Miami.

He undertook a fellowship in Paris for cosmetic and reconstructive surgery under the tutelage of the one of the leading surgeons in the world.

 

In 2001 he was awarded an MD, United States Licensing Examination. He was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons General Surgery, FRCS in 2008.

Mr Mahadev is a fully accredited surgeon and, as such, is entered into the General Medical Council (GMC) and on the specialist register for general surgery. He is currently a NHS consultant surgeon at Mid Cheshire NHS Trust.

 

Mr Mahadev has published literature throughout his career and has presented his work internationally at surgical conferences.

 

He is actively involved in training of other consultant surgeons in cosmetic and reconstructive surgery.

 

He is actively involved with the Royal College of Surgeons of England in education, training and assessment of surgeons in the UK and abroad. Furthermore, he is a member of the FRCS General surgery) exam board. Due to his passion, he is very actively involved in teaching both at undergraduate and postgraduate level and a Honorary Senior Lecturer at University of Manchester.

Prof. Khashu is a Consultant Neonatologist at Poole Hospital NHS FT and a Professor of Perinatal Health at the Centre for Midwifery, Maternal and Perinatal Health, School of Health & Social Care at Bournemouth University.

 

Prof. Khashu has been involved with national work in Neonatology/Paediatrics/ Maternity through various stakeholders. He is the senate member for Wessex on the neonatal CRG. He is part of the British Association of Perinatal Medicine (BAPM) advisory panel and has been involved with various working groups and publications at BAPM including the BAPM Standards of Neonatal Care 2010 and the Optimal arrangements for neonatal intensive care units 2014. Prof. Khashu was involved in the development of the DH, Toolkit for Neonatal Services as part of the Workforce subgroup. He has also been closely involved in activities of the RCPCH as member of the Academic Board, PiMM Committee and the Nutrition Committee. Prof. Khashu has represented RCPCH and BAPM at various working groups e.g.

 

NHS England at the Acute Vanguard assessments 2015 and RCOG on Maternity Standards.

 

Prof. Khashu has a special interest is Quality Improvement and Safety and is member of the National Maternity Safety Steering Board.

 

In view of very little progress in a particular field of Neonatology, he set up an international special interest group for NEC (necrotising enterocolitis, which is an important cause of mortality/morbidity in preterm newborns) for facilitating networking, collaborations for research and improvements in practice. This has been acclaimed internationally, both by professionals as well as parents.

 

Prof. Khashu is passionate about person/family centred care and was a member of the

national steering group set up by Bliss on National Accreditation of neonatal units for Family Centred Care.

 

Prof. Khashu has about 50 presentations and publications at various international scientific meetings and in high impact international peer reviewed journals. He is a reviewer for multiple international journals including the BMJ and also for the Oxford University Press.

 

He is also a reviewer for grant/funding applications for the NIHR.

 

Prof. Khashu believes ardently in the wise words of Aristotle, who said, “We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, therefore, is not an act, but a habit.”

In 2015 Steve established the Turn Up The Volume! Movement. The aim is to promote best practice in patient safety through engagement of staff, patient / citizen whistleblowers with providers, commissioners, safety groups and regulators. Turn Up The Volume! events and resources provide a forum for all to share best practice locally and nationally, and to openly highlight areas of concern in as spirit of truth and reconciliation.

Professor Edvinsson is a key pioneering contributor to both the theory and practice of Intellectual Capital. As the world’s first director of IC in 1991 he initiated the creation of the world's first public corporate Intellectual Capital Annual Report 1994, and inspired the development ever since on IC metrics. He was parallel to that prototyping the Skandia Future Center as a Lab for Organisational design, one of the very first in the World in 1996, and inspired many to be followed.

 

During 1996 he was recognised with awards from the American Productivity and Quality Centre, USA and Business Intelligence, UK.  In January 1998, Leif received the prestigious Brain Trust "Brain of the Year" award, UK. for his pioneering work on IC. In 1999 noted as Most Admired Knowledge Award on Knowledge Leadership. He was also awarded The KEN Practitioner of the Year 2004, from Entovation International, where he also is an E 100.  In 2006 also listed in a book by London Business Press, as one of The 50 Most influential Thinkers in the World. He is listed in Who’s Who in the world. Also associate member of The Club of Rome. He is also Cofounder and Chairman of The New Club of Paris, focused on the Knowledge Economy initiatives.                     

 

Professor Leif Edvinsson has his education from the University of California, Berkeley,  USA,  and Lund University, Sweden.  He is the author of numerous articles on the service management and on Intellectual Capital. In March 1997, together with Michael S. Malone, he launched one of the very first books on Intellectual Capital. He is also special advisor on Societal Entrepreneurship to the Swedish Governmental Foundation for Competence Development, as well as on Serciece Science to the Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation.

Leif is serving on the Board of Directors of several knowledge intensive enterprises among others earlier the Swedish Brain Research Foundation as well as for many years the Center for Molecular Medicine at Karolinska Institute, Stockholm, Sweden. Since 2000 he has been the Honorary Chairman of the UK based Henley College, KM Forum. Since 2000, he has been Professor, adjunct at Lund University on Intellectual Capital. In January 2006, he was also appointed professor adj. at The Hong Kong Polytechnic University, and later promoted to Chair Professor in 2007.

Neela is a consultant paediatrician by background and worked as Clinical Director responsible for managing Acute, Community and Child mental health services in a well known Trust in the North East Of England for a number of years until January 2011 when she joined Children’s health commissioning team in Cumbria initially as Medical Director in Cumbria PCT and latterly as Clinical Director for Children and Families, NHS Cumbria Clinical Commissioning Group. She recently retired from the NHS at the end of March 2016 .She brings over 35 years’ of professional experience and expertise in the NHS , which includes safeguarding children roles such as Named and Designated Doctor, expert witness in safeguarding cases.

 

Neela also led a project team on behalf of the Royal College of Paediatrics and Child Health in the UK and has developed child protection training courses : Safeguarding Children - Child protection : Response & Recognition and Child protection in Practice for paediatric trainees in collaboration with the Advanced Life Support Group (Education charity )and NSPCC. She is an accredited trainer. She has had extensive experience of multiagency working and has contributed to different regional and national committees on children’s health, safeguarding and family justice issues. She very much enjoys partnership working.

 

She has a keen interest in promoting multi-agency child protection training nationally and overseas and has contributed to such programmes in Nicaragua, India, Egypt, Irish Republic, and Nepal. She was award the honorary membership of the Council of the National Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Children ( NSPCC)in recognition of her work nationally in developing training programmes for paediatric trainees. Recently she was also been awarded the honorary membership of the Faculty of Public Health of the Royal College of Physicians,UK in recognition of her contribution and advocacy in field of child public health.

 

She is passionate and committed to improving children and young people’s health and wellbeing outcomes, their experience and access to services. She is totally committed to the preventive approach to Children & Young people’s health and wellbeing .

Dr Diwakar Sukul is the founder and director of the of the KAMKUS Clinics, in Harley Street, London. He is also the developer of the concept of the Multi-Dimensional

healthcare and Eastern Psychotherapy and Mind, Body Connective Therapy™.

 

The creation of Kamkus reflects a lifelong vision inspired by his beliefs, that holistic and traditional medicine should work together addressing all aspects of the person in an

integrated way. Dr Sukul possesses a Ph.D. in psychology. He has a background in clinical psychology and psychotherapy, Ericksonian Hypnotherapy and NLP.

Diwakar is an acknowledged expert on stress, anxiety, emotional health, personal development, and spiritual wellbeing. He is also trained as a Field Traumatologist and Compassion Fatigue Educator and Thought Field Therapist.

He has received international recognition for his work with alcohol and drug addiction at Turning Point UK, which he treated with a unique blend of Eastern and Western approaches. He has conducted several national and international seminars and workshops on stress management, multidimensional healthcare, addiction and other health related problems.

 

He has been a keynote speaker at a number of international conferences. He has delivered training and workshops in U.K, USA, Switzerland, France,

Germany, Saudi Arabia, Egypt and India. His clients includes, HARP, Aquarius, NHS And several other organisations in the UK. He also worked conducted training and workshops for Airport Authority of India including Air Traffic Controllers, Ministry of Defence, Ministry of Health,, Ministry of Power including NTPC,NHPC, Lanco in India and Marcom in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. He is also the life coach, mentor and holistic therapist for the Royals.

He is passionate to provide comprehensive obstetric care for women with all kinds of Perinatal Mental Health illnesses (such as anxiety, depression, bipolar disorders, personality disorders, schizophrenia, eating disorders/anorexia, Post Traumatic Stress Disorders and tocophobia) during their pregnancy and after the childbirth. He also provides expert advice for women with PMH illnesses who are considering pregnancy (Pre-conceptional counselling) in conjunction with his Multidisciplinary Team. He provides specialist advice for women who underwent traumatic birth experience and/or suffer from Post Traumatic Stress Disidors (PTSD) following childbirth. He is a qualified Trainer in PMH and organises teaching and training for Obstetricians, Midwives, GP and other healthcare professionals. He has expertise in gynaecological surgery, laparocopy and hysteroscopic surgeries for the treatment of benign gynaecological conditions (such as heavy menstrual period/ menorrhagia, endometriosis, fibroid, dysmenorrhoea and chronic pelvic pain).

 

Personal profile

His main focus of care is patient awareness/ education, involving patients in the decision making process and giving them choices. He is campaigning for better PMH care within the Maternity Services.
