I currently hold the post of Chief Executive of the UK’s first ever Mental Health Football Association, formerly known as Mental Health Football UK.
I am originally from Glasgow however I left my home town in 1994 to make Liverpool my new home, I have also spent some time living in Ibiza and two years in Madrid.
I have spent most of my working career within Sales and Management however due to my ongoing battle with bipolar I decided some years ago to move into an area that I would enjoy more and have pleasure in helping others to improve their lives, I became a volunteer within the Homeless and Addiction sectors.
I began volunteering with Everton In The Community in 2013 and this inspired me to develop and launch the UK’s first and only Mental Health Football Association (MHFA).
I have been recognised for my work receiving several awards in last few years;
2014 Outstanding Contribution from Everton In The Community
2014 Sports Volunteer of The Year from Liverpool City Council
2015 Merseyside Sports Volunteer of The year from Merseyside Sports Partnership
2016 The Premier League’s Torch Trophy
The MHFA brings together like-minded people and organisations who believe in and adopt the use of football as a vehicle for both recovery and ongoing therapy for those affected by mental ill health.
