#Hellomynameis Carrie Jackson and I am Director of the England Centre for Practice Development (ECPD), a national centre for applied interdisciplinary health research, practice development and innovation hosted at Canterbury Christ Church University. The Centre is part of an international collaborative of practice developers committed to the innovation of services and practices at the point of care to ensure that they are person-centred, safer and more effective (International Practice Development Collaborative (IPDC)). I am delighted to be an Ambassador for Education and Research with WHIS .
“The ECPD shares a commitment to WHIS values. We are committed to working collaboratively with people to co-produce sustainable solutions to some of the health and wellbeing challenges we face in society today. We achieve this by working directly with the public, practitioners, commissioners, policy makers and a wide range of stakeholders to connect people’s experiences, creativity, ideas and resources, to co-create a blue print for quality improvement and change in our communities. Our research is underpinned by a commitment to action, working with questions that are derived from everyday experiences about what matters most to people. The approaches we use are very systematic, and our work is underpinned by a commitment to sustainable change and transformation so that people and services are developed from within as part of the research journey. This means that once the research is completed, there is an ongoing commitment to collective action because people have been inspired and empowered to continue the journey. Facilitating the learning and development of the current and future workforce is a very important part of this journey through empowering the development of clinical and systems leaders who will be capable of promoting integrated ways of working in the future to deliver services that look very different to those we are familiar with today. This means that people need to really understand and become skilled in creating the conditions for effective workplace cultures where everyone can flourish and be the best they can be in order to deliver high quality care and services that make a difference to people’s lives and experiences”.
I have over 30 years’ experience of interprofessional collaboration on initiatives directly impacting on the design, delivery and evaluation of new services and models for primary, secondary and tertiary practice and education programmes shaping workforce careers internationally. My teaching interests are in systems leadership, workforce modelling, advanced practice, innovation and entrepreneurship, health care policy, quality improvement, creativity, arts and health and practice development. I have a particular interest in developing effective workplace cultures that enable everyone to flourish within a learning organisation. My PhD supervision interests are in leadership, organisational change, workforce design, advanced practice, innovation and entrepreneurship, culture change, impact evaluation, social evolution, and social learning.
I hold a number of visiting appointments and fellowships with NHS Trusts and occupy a number of advisory roles for other research centres and institutes.
We are delighted to welcome Carrie to the team and her wealth of experience and knowledge will ensure #togetherweinspire – WHIS Team
